Hire Information

Before you book

We like to keep things simple but there are a few rules to follow. We aim to get you away as quickly as possible, so please take a couple of minutes to read this information and contact us if you have any questions.
Age limits?

To hire a van you must be over 23 (over 25 for cars and minibuses) and under 70 years old. Younger or older customers may be considered under special circumstances.

Licence requirements?

You must have held a full licence for more than two years and not have been involved in an accident (involving an insurance claim) in the last twelve months.

  • To hire a minibus you need to be over 25 years old and have a D1 on your licence (this is automatic if you passed your test before January 1st 1997)

  • To drive a vehicle above 3.5 tons you will need to be over 25 years old and have a C1 on your license (this is automatic if you passed your test before January 1st 1997)
  • Points limit on your licence?

    A maximum of six points for minor offences (SP30 or speaking on a mobile etc). More serious offences (drink driving, driving without insurance etc) may prevent you from hiring. Every customer license will be checked against the DVLA database prior to hire.

    In advance of hire, customers should either download and email their own “Hire Code” from the DVLA website or, with your permission, provide us with their National Insurance number so that Pronto may check your license on your behalf.

    EVERY DRIVER MUST BRING THEIR LICENCE WITH THEM ON THE DAY, no licence no hire.


    Before you travel

    Identification?

    We require each hirer to provide proof of their signature and home address. A credit or debit card is acceptable for proof of signature, a recent utility bill (not mobile phone) or bank statement is acceptable as a proof of address.

    Payment?

    Unless you are an account customer, all fees must be settled in advance of hire. A minimum payment of £25 is payable on a card in advance to reserve your vehicle. The remaining Payment can be made on the day of hire by credit or debit card (additional 2% fee for credit cards). It is not acceptable for customers to pay with cash, except where a credit or debit card is used for the prepayment or deposit.

    Deposits?

    Pronto reserves the right to secure a deposit on credit or debit card. This is repayable in full providing the vehicle is returned to us in good shape. Debit card deposits will take 3 working days to clear, credit cards can take up to two weeks.

    Insurance?

    Fully comprehensive insurance is provided as standard with every hire. There is a £750 maximum excess in the event of damage to the vehicle. Customers may use their own insurance, a copy of which will need to be presented prior to hire.

    Breakdown and Recovery?

    In the unlikely event of a breakdown, roadside support is provided for every vehicle. You should contact Pronto in the first instance who will be able to help co-ordinate your recovery.
